Immigration Interview
Good afternoon.
Good Afternoon
Are you ready to be interviewed?
Yes I am. How long of a wait and how much did you have to do and pay to enter the United States as an immigrant today? I waited six long months. I filled out a bunch of paper works and it took them a long time to get back to me after I filled out each document. They then said that I was ready to come to the U.S. legally. The hardest part was waiting for the green card because I thought that I they had forgotten about me, but they finally got back to me. 6 long months. What are some of the biggest challenges of living in america? Well one challenge is getting a job. It is hard to get a decent job with accent, my appearance, and my little skill in the American workforce. I am thinking about going to school to learn nursing so I can get a job. Do you feel accepted by the citizens of America? Yes to some extent I do. Since there is many diversity here in America it is not hard to fit in and be accepted by the people. Do you have any family in America? Do you live with them? Yes I do I have my two sister and one brother. I live with them both in an apartment. Tell me your oppinion on some of the issues of immigration in America today, like the Arizona sb1070 law. I feel that such laws are wrong and shouldn’t be made. I see it as a way to get all immigrants ouot of America. Why even accept them in the first place. I think that there are other ways to catch illegal immigrants How do you feel about the drug cartels in Mexico? I believe that it makes things hard for us Mexicans who don’t do anything wrong. Now I see a some of people look at me a little weird like I might do something wrong. Even coming into this country was hard for me because I had to go through so much securtity at the border. They asked me so many questions. What do you think the U.S. Government should do to improve the lives of immigrants and people coming to America today? That is a very interesting question. First of all, in terms of jobs, they should make it easier to acquire one to support oneself so you should end up on the street. Meanwhile they should set up a place for support. Later One can find a job and a house to live in. Also the wait should be shorter. Overall though, it should it is a good process. Thank you Mr. Escobar. Your welcome. For your time and effort I will like to give you this usb. In fact everyone in the audience gets one, just take them out. This is all we have here today on Immigration Today. See you next month for a new special.
